HIM sign to Universal Music Germany

....from Kelly Crawford Hitt - Lead HIM Street Team Member & Euro Rock Radio Host

Godfathers of Love Metal release new album “Tears On Tape” internationally on April 29, 2013

HELSINKI/BERLIN, February 20, 2013 – Finnish rock superstars HIM have signed a licensing deal with Universal Music Germany’s Vertigo Berlin imprint. The deal – for all territories excluding North America, UK & Ireland, China and India – will govern the release of the highly anticipated new album “Tears On Tape” due out on April 29.

The follow-up to 2010’s “Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice”, “Tears On Tape” is nothing less than a face-punching, heart-tugging 13-track monster of an album, and if it recalls the glories of albums like 2003’s “Love Metal”, then it’s no accident – rejoining forces with longtime producer Hiili Hiilesmaa, “Tears On Tape” is a love letter scrawled in large, block capitals.

Formed by high school friends obsessed not only with the immortal refrains of Black Sabbath but also the gloom-laden, sardonic wit of Type O Negative, HIM have become national icons in their native, rock and metal-loving Finland. Their trademark Heartagram symbol has left its indelible stamp on the globe and, with sales of more than 8 million records, HIM are a force like no other. They also have the distinction of recording the best-selling single of any Finnish artist to date with “Join Me In Death” from 1999’s “Razorblade Romance”, as well as being the first Finnish band to receive gold certification in the United States with 2005’s “Dark Light”.

“We wanted the heaviness without losing the sentimentality,” says frontman Valo. “Imagine Rambo meets The English Patient and you’re almost there. It’s got these big knucklehead riffs without forgetting the emotions behind them.”

Recorded in Helsinki and mixed at Assault And Battery Studios in London by longtime “masterer” of ceremonies Tim Palmer (Ozzy Osbourne, U2, Pearl Jam), “Tears On Tape is, according to Valo, the result of working with longtime friends: “We’ve so much history that it enabled us to concentrate on the essential, which is making good songs sound as good as possible and turning them into something massive.”

Via Official HIM Street Teams

Official HIM Street Teams: New HIM update Via Kelly Crawford (Euro-Rock Radio)

Ok clarification on a few things from Seppo:

1) Release date for XX is Oct 26 in Finland. Distribution of a physical CD worldwide is still being worked on. At this time there's not a US release date. Though iTunes will of course have it, we'll have to wait and see on physical CDs in other countries, though you can always buy it online from Finnish stores I'm sure. I'll keep you posted on US release dates, etc.

2) Sony is only releasing the XX compilation. Forthcoming new album distribution/label is still open and they are looking forward to a simultaneous release worldwide. Right now the release is tentatively scheduled for March 2013.

As I get more info from Seppo as things progress I'll let everyone know!

HIM CELEBRATES THEIR 20-YEAR CAREER BY RELEASING COMPILATION ALBUM XX - TWO DECADES OF LOVE METAL ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 29TH 2012 … START RECORDING NEW ALBUM FOR 2013

This year HIM, one of Finland’s most successful bands at home and abroad celebrate 20 years by releasing a compilation album XX – Two Decades of Love Metal. This is the first compilation by the band that covers their whole career. The celebratory compilation includes one new track, Strange World – the first new material from HIM since 2010. Kevin Grivois known by the artist name Ké released the track in the 90s, and it’s one of the personal favourites of Ville Valo. Strange World is released digitally on Friday, September 21st. A music video has been shot for the track. The compilation will be released globally by Sony Music.

When the band was founded in the beginning of the 90s, the name was His Infernal Majesty, later the abbreviation HIM was introduced. HIM started calling their music love-metal in 1996.

HIM was the first Finnish band to achieve a gold record in the USA (over 500 000 albums sold) with the album Dark Light (2005). The band has also sold platinum and gold in German speaking countries and silver in the UK with the album (over 50.000 albums). HIM is the most commercially successful Finnish band of all time. Over five million HIM records have been sold worldwide. The band has released numerous hits such as Join Me In Death, Poison Girl, Right Here In My Arms, Wings Of A Butterfly, Killing Loneliness, Your Sweet 666, In Joy And Sorrow, Wicked Game, Buried Alive By Love, The Kiss Of Dawn and The Funeral Of Hearts.

The renowned Helldone Festival will take place again this year. HIM has brought in the New Year at Tavastia Club 11 times, five of which with Helldone Festival. This year HIM will take the Tavastia stage four nights in a row. The Helldone Festival audience has usually consisted of a large number of HIM fans that have travelled to Finland from abroad – including gig goers from as far afield as Mexico and Australia. Daniel Lioneye to open for Cradle Of Filth Concert on Feb 8th 2011 at CLUB NOKIA

As you may have or may not of known, that CRADLE OF FILTH is on tour and soon they will be heading to Los Angeles on the 8th of February at Club Nokia. I have made it my mission to attend this event for a couple of reasons but one of them being that Finnish Musician Daniel Lioneye will open for the Main acted.

For those that don't know who DANIEL LIONEYE is well let me tell you. He is AKA LINDE from HIM (a Finnish, Love Metal band) HIM is a very successful band. They have a large fan base in Europe and Scandinavia but for some reason a huge fan base in the US. Which I think is a shame. They are really good. But I think is due illegal downloads of their music which may be why they are not as successful here in the States. Any way DANIEL LIONEYE aka LINDE is a side project that started back in 2000-2001 when HIM had some down time.

The First Album to come from that project was "King of Rock N Roll" With LINDE aka (DANIEL LIONEYE) as the vocals and guitar, Mikko Heinrik Julius ‘Migé Amour' Paananen on bass, Ville Hermanni ‘Rakohammas' Valo on drums, Kai ‘Hiili' Hiilesmaa on keyboards.

After a nine years of inactivity LINDE aka DANIEL LIONEYE returned to the Studio this time with H.I.M. keyboardist Janne "Burton" Puurtinen and Enochian Crescent drummer Black Vomit Bolton for what came to be an industrialized black metal experiment album.

The Sold Out HIM Signing & Concert

Hey,

I attended the HIM signing yesterday (4-23-10) @ Hot Topic and later went to the concert @ The Wiltern. I was out the whole day on my feet the lines at these two venues were ridiculously long especially at The Wiltern. The line wrapped around the block past the Denny's past the The Wiltern Parking lot and then stop at the very end of the parking structure and then curved into a U back on the same sidewalk going in the opposite direction.

Yeah. . . . .

The signing was amazing it sold out that day and I also got to talk to a couple of my fellow HIM fans. They were just as excited as I was about what was happening that day. The signing was suppose to start at 4pm but didn't start till 4:30p which was okay. I got to see members of the band and had a chance to make small talk with Ville Valo the lead singer of the band.

I know, I know. . . I couldn't help myself :D. (video below Autograph's)

Plus this time around they really strategically blocked the fans (us) from really trying to have any physical contact with with them i.e. (asking for a hug, a kiss on the cheek, oh can you guys sign my chest. . . . lol) I felt like there record company had something to do with that. And if so they are the reason why their fans base has not grown, because I think their label has fail to invest in them and really promote them so they can travel to more countries instead of the same time route they've been doing. I mean people are literally starting there own HIM/Heartagram Street Team all over, especially in places where they have fans but the band has either been to once or never. And as for the concert door were to open at 7:30pm I got there at 5:45pm by bus from Hot Topic at Hollywood & Highland. When I arrived the line was freakin long. I felt like was doing one of those The Walk Of Shame walks, yeah . . . that was not pretty. Anyways I made my way to the back of the line. Again I chatted it up with a couple of more people as always. Then by 6:30pm they line started to move, and not slow either it was moving pretty quickly. I made my way inside I had Floor tickets. I found a spot, but the entire night I am watching the back of this IDIOT'S HEAD. I was not happy. So I guess you could say I spent my whole night moving my head from side to side and stretching my neck as far up as I possible could. And at the same time try to consider the people behind me that are trying to see the band as well. All this from 7:30 to 11:30pm I felt somewhat cheated out of my HIM experience because of a huge, gigantic, tall person who felt the need to be in front when he can so easily stand in the back. I mean your tall why do you need to be in the front. *so pissed* (video below of BIG HEADS)

The concert was great 3 bands played before HIM came on. The first was Drive A, second was Dommin and the third was We Are The Fallen. So far I like all of them but would probably end up following up on We Are The Fallen and Dommin. To me they were great opening acts. The last time HIM was in town was in 2007 at The Orpheum and the opening act at the time was Bleeding Through (that was not good) I didn't stick around to listen, need to use the restroom XD.

DRIVE A
DOMMIN

WE ARE THE FALLEN

When HIM came out on stage it was like the whole place was about to cave in. I mean the venue was SOLD OUT. The band looked great on stage Ville was very happy and excited that night. Bam Margera was there, up in the balcony seats but I couldn't see him from where I was and didn't care to either. I was more interested in this great performance HIM was giving us. They played all the favorites Rip Out The Wings Of A Butterfly, Join Me In Death, Right Here In My Arms, Bleed Well, Wicked Game and Kiss Of Dawn. But they also play the new songs from their lasted album Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice, Chapters 1-13. Songs like Heartkiller, Ode to Solitude, Scared To Death, Katherine Wheel, In The Arms of Rain, and Like St. Valentine. They did an encore of Rebel Yell.

Video is uploaded from my other youtube account. (mrsassyriavalo)
(for some reason I was unable to use blogger's video software, I think this site was unable to process a 6 min video. I am very disappointed with this site. :( )

All in all I was glad to be able to go and see HIM live again this was my fifth time seeing them live and twice for the signing @ Hot Topic. I hope to see them again in concert. HIM is a great band and I think more people should know about them and listen to the wonderful music that they make.

Peace, Love and Heartagram's :)

Trent Married!!! Where was I when all of this happend . . .

I was surfing the Internet and realized how out of touch I am with the World Wide Web. My PCs been f***up since August 2008 (yeah I know) that was the same year I traveled to Finland. And ever since then I haven't been able to get it fixed. All of my videos and pictures on that hard drive. So instead I bought a new HP netbook this past February. I needed it because I was really starting to feel disconnected from the Internet especially from my Myspace, YouTube and new Facebook account.

The reason I am mentioning this is because I just found out on some random google search on another topic that lead me to news that shocked me. Trent Reznor is engaged! and then Trent Reznor is married! I know that this is probably old news to some people, well most people but it was defiantly new news to me. And all this happen in 2009, its 2010 now! Where was I in all of this?

Trent Reznor & new wife Mariqueen Maandig

I feel really silly right now. I am a fan of Nine Inch Nails and I feel like I should know everything, but I don't. I used to be glue to my computer. But lately life has really been blocking my way. What I mean by that is the stress of reality. The stress of knowing that when you get up early in the morning to go to work isn't because your earning more for yourself but also for those you own money too. For example: Rent, Light, gas, home phone, cell phone and one credit card bill. I find this to be very upsetting for me. I mean for once I would actually like to spend the money that I worked so hard for on things that I like and enjoy but even that may not be possible at times. Back in February I had to decide to either purchase HIM tickets or pay the up coming cell phone bill.

I chose HIM, sorry sprint!

HIM ROCKS !!
